Aiadaz – Fictional Artist Biography

Aiadaz (born Zara Delaney, June 17, 1995) is a Berlin-based ambient pop singer, composer, and visual sound artist known for her ethereal vocals, cinematic soundscapes, and emotionally charged electronic minimalism. Her music has been described as “where memory meets melody” — blending ambient pop, neo-soul textures, and Nordic-influenced melancholy with a uniquely European electro-acoustic atmosphere.

Born in Bristol, England to an Irish mother and Moroccan father, she grew up surrounded by a mix of Sufi chanting, classical piano, and her mother’s vinyl collection of Cocteau Twins, Sade, Massive Attack, and Agnes Obel. At age 10, she began composing simple piano pieces to help her synesthetic brain process sounds as colors — a trait she still uses consciously when designing her songs.

After studying audio design and experimental composition at the Berlin University of the Arts, she settled permanently in Berlin’s Neukölln district. Living in a renovated factory loft shared with visual artists and dancers, she began shaping her signature sound — a tranquil blend of whispery vocals, field recordings, modular synths, and layered harmonies that feel like “fog, glass, and sunrise in sound form.”

Her self-released debut EP, Paper Ghosts (2020), gained underground attention and was praised by indie blogs for its emotional intimacy and sculptural approach to sound. The follow-up EP, Quiet Machines (2022), received critical acclaim in the European ambient/electronic scene for its fusion of silence, poetry, and melodic pop structures. The single “Glassbirds” was featured in multiple art films and runway shows in Copenhagen, Berlin, and Tokyo.

Aiadaz is also known for her immersive live performances, which blend music, spoken word, slow choreography, and reactive light installations. She performs shoeless, often surrounded by hanging glass or paper sculptures, using subtle movement and live looping to build moods rather than concerts.

In interviews, she often says:

“I don’t write songs. I build spaces you can remember.”

She is currently completing her first full-length album, The Shape of Invisible Things, recorded between Berlin, Reykjavik, and a remote forest cabin in Brandenburg. The record explores themes of memory, silence, belonging, and emotional architecture — how places live inside people.

When not composing, Aiadaz runs small workshops in Berlin, teaching synesthetic songwriting and sound-based storytelling to artists, dancers, and filmmakers.
